The Process
Phase 1: Learning
Before you take the plunge, it’s time to hit the books!
The learning modules of the Advanced Open Water course cover 5 specialty modules (2 mandatory and 3 of their choice*)
After divers study their theory they must complete an online review at the end of each module that quizzes them on what they have learned before proceeding to the practical part of the training.
*Although the 3 additional modules can be chosen from a range of different options - they must be in conjunction with the actual dives the certifying diver participates in. Hence, some options might not be viable and must be chosen at the capacity of the Dive Centre and the location that you will be certifying at.
Phase 2: Advanced Dives
Guests certifying for the Advanced Open Water course will begin their experiential dives as soon as the first dive day in the itinerary.
The Advanced Open Water course does not require confined water training but is based on simply attempting specialty dives and completing specific skill tasks in these dives (if required for example - Deep Dive or Peak Performance Buoyancy)
Divers are expected to finish the theory portion before the trip begins so as to hit the ground running as soon as they reach the destination.
